About
Sam Wills is a singer and pianist from Hastings, East Sussex, whose sound sits at the crossroads of soul, R&B and UK electronic music. He trained classically in both voice and piano, and those foundations show up in the warmth and precision of his vocal performances. His songwriting draws on a lineage of US soul and hip hop, with names like D'Angelo and Justin Timberlake as clear reference points, filtered through a distinctly British electronic sensibility. Tracks like "Kool Aid", "So Bright" and "Sweet Distraction", the latter featuring rappers Kofi Stone and Jake Milliner, give a good sense of the range he works in, from groovy neo soul to chilled R&B.
