Sampha Sisay has one of those voices that makes other artists queue up to work with him. The South London singer and producer has appeared on records by Drake, Kendrick Lamar, Frank Ocean, Kanye West, Solange, and Gorillaz, among many others, weaving his soulful, quietly devastating sound through some of the biggest albums of the past decade. His own debut, Process, dropped in 2017 on Young and went on to win the Mercury Prize, cementing him as far more than a featured guest. The record sits at the intersection of alternative R&B, pop soul, and something altogether harder to pin down. His second album, Lahai, arrived in 2023 and was met with the same kind of serious critical attention, proving that Process was no fluke.
