Sanguisugabogg came out of Columbus, Ohio in 2019 with a sound that feels like a swamp collapsing on top of you. Their debut demo Pornographic Seizures landed on Maggot Stomp and set the tone: caveman riffs, ignorantly heavy grooves, and a tongue in cheek approach to gore that tips the genre's excess into something closer to dark comedy. Their name is literally a mashup of the Latin word for leech and British slang for toilet, which tells you exactly where their heads are at. Signed to Century Media, they released Tortured Whole in 2021 and followed it up with Homicidal Ecstasy in 2023, the latter drawing comparisons to Internal Bleeding, Dehumanized, and early Cannibal Corpse while showing a sharper edge and more groove. Critics flagged the hardcore energy running through Homicidal Ecstasy as a step up without losing any of the filth that made them worth paying attention to. Their third album Hideous Aftermath arrived in 2025.
