Few acts defined late nineties eurodance quite like Sash!, the German trio behind a string of massive dancefloor hits. Their breakthrough came with Encore Une Fois, followed by Ecuador and Stay, and together those tracks helped the group shift more than 17 million records worldwide. Their sound leaned on big melodic hooks and featured vocalists singing in a striking variety of languages including French, Spanish, Finnish, Danish, Italian and Japanese, yet the group never once recorded a song in their native German. In the UK they were particularly consistent, landing five singles at number two and keeping every release inside the top 15, though a number one always stayed just out of reach. After the eurodance wave faded, Sash! kept producing, and a 2008 comeback single Raindrops reworked their original breakthrough hit into a mash up that reached the top ten in the UK and hit number one in Germany.
