About
Also known as: Satoshi Takabe, Satoshi Takebe, 武部 聡志
Tokyo born keyboard player, arranger and producer Satoshi Takebe has spent decades shaping the sound of some of Japan's biggest pop acts. His fingerprints are on records by Ken Hirai, JUJU, Yuzu, Miki Imai and Tomomi Kahara, among many others, and he has also steered the music direction for major TV institutions like FNS Music Festival and Music Fair. Beyond the studio, Takebe has worked in some genuinely spectacular settings. He led the band performing alongside the Tokyo Philharmonic Orchestra at Yuzuru Hanyu's solo ice show Gift at Tokyo Dome, playing to a record crowd of 35,000, and premiered his own composition also called "Gift" there. He was also part of the all star Japanese unit Kokua, which reunited in 2016 to record Progress, the group's first official album. In 2023 he produced a Studio Ghibli tribute album featuring twelve artists including Dean Fujioka, Kaela Kimura and Little Glee Monster.
