About
Say She She describe their sound as "discodelic soul" and that tells you pretty much everything you need to know. The Brooklyn trio of Piya Malik, Sabrina Cunningham, and Nya Brown layer lush, dreamy harmonies over grooves that pull directly from 70s disco and funk, with Nile Rodgers and Chic cited as the biggest touchstones. Malik brings serious pedigree from her time with El Michels Affair and Chicano Batman, and their backing band pulls in players from The Dap Kings and Orgone, which means the live sound is as tight as the records. They hit the ground running with their 2022 debut Prism, which landed a five star review in The Guardian, and followed it with Silver in 2023, a record that topped KCRW's album of the year list and turned up in year end picks at KEXP too. Nile Rodgers himself reached out to tell them he loved what they were doing, which for a group who named themselves as a tribute to Chic must have felt pretty surreal. Their third album Cut and Rewind arrived in October 2025.
