SBTRKT (GB)

About

SBTRKT is the project of London based producer Aaron Jerome Foulds, who built his reputation on a sound that blends dubstep, future garage and post dubstep into something genuinely hard to pin down. He used to perform wearing ceremonial style masks designed by an anonymous collaborator called A Hidden Place, leaning into the idea that the music should do the talking rather than the person behind it. Remixes for Radiohead, M.I.A, Basement Jaxx and Underworld helped establish his reach early on, and his tracks have been playlisted regularly by BBC Radio 1 and 6 Music. For years he worked closely with Sampha, whose vocals featured across singles and live shows from 2010 onwards. His 2014 album Wonder Where We Land brought in voices like Ezra Koenig on the standout track New Dorp. New York. and Sampha on Temporary View. After a long gap he returned with The Rat Road in 2023, his first full album in nine years, alongside a run of new collaborations with the likes of Toro y Moi, Teezo Touchdown and Sampha once again.
