Scott Henderson is a guitarist who built his reputation at the intersection of jazz fusion and electric blues, best known for co founding Tribal Tech with bassist Gary Willis back in 1984. The band became a serious force in jazz fusion across the 80s and 90s, racking up a string of albums and earning Henderson the top spot in Guitar World's jazz guitarist rankings in 1991, followed by the same honor from Guitar Player readers the following year. Tribal Tech reunited for the album X in 2011 before Henderson called it a day on the band again in 2014. Outside the band, his solo catalog is substantial and spans a wide range. He plays mostly Suhr electric guitars but also reaches for an electric sitar, which gives his sound some genuinely unexpected textures. He has also collaborated with Steve Smith and Victor Wooten as Vital Tech Tones, and has taught at the Guitar Institute of Technology in Hollywood, California since 1984. His most recent solo release is Karnevel!, out in 2024.
