About
Scott Kinsey Group is the electric fusion vehicle of keyboardist, composer and producer Scott Kinsey, a player who has built his name inside modern electric jazz. The band leans hard on improvisation, layering electric textures and rhythmic figures and leaving plenty of room for the players to stretch out. Alongside original material, the repertoire includes compositions by Weather Report, the pioneering jazz rock band Joe Zawinul founded in 1970, which is a nod to the tradition the group draws its line from. Kinsey himself is known from Tribal Tech and from working with Joe Zawinul and John McLaughlin. He has also played with Kurt Rosenwinkel and Michael Landau, contributed to film work including Ocean's 11, and keeps Zawinul's musical spirit going through The Zawinul Legacy Band 2.0. The group has released an album called Thought Distortions, and its lineups have included drummer Gergo Borlai and vocalist Mer Sal.
