About

Sea Girls got their name from a mishearing: guitarist Rory Young always sang the words 'sea girls' instead of 'city girls' in the Nick Cave song 'Water's Edge', and somehow that stuck. The four piece London indie rock band built their reputation on anthemic songs and high energy live shows, playing the BBC Music festival The Biggest Weekend and the Reading and Leeds Festivals before landing a worldwide deal with Polydor Records in 2019. Two of their singles released under Polydor, 'Damage Done' and 'Violet', were each named hottest record in the world by Annie Mac on BBC Radio 1. Their debut album Open Up Your Head and its follow up Homesick both peaked at number 3 on the UK Albums Chart, a remarkable run of consistency. Their third album, Midnight Butterflies, arrived in 2024. Along the way they supported Foals on tour, played their debut Glastonbury set, and even landed a track on the FIFA 23 official soundtrack.
