About

Also known as: Sebastian Teller, Sebastian Tellier, Sebastien Teller, Sebastien Tellier

Sébastien Tellier is one of those French artists who refuses to be pinned down to a single sound, moving easily between ambient pop, downtempo grooves, electronic textures and full on French house. His 2004 album Politics introduced most of the world to his particular brand of strange, lush pop, anchored by the string swept "La Ritournelle" featuring Nigerian drumming legend Tony Allen. His third album Sexuality, produced by Guy Manuel de Homem Christo of Daft Punk, pushed him into wider attention, partly thanks to his polarizing turn at Eurovision 2008 with "Divine", the first French entry performed largely in English. Beyond his own records, Tellier has composed soundtracks for several French films and wrote every song on Dita Von Teese's 2018 self titled album. He sings across five languages and his catalogue spans from acoustic sessions to full concept albums, including My God Is Blue, where he played a fictional cult leader, and Domesticated, built around domestic life after marriage and fatherhood. In 2024 he performed "La Ritournelle" at the Paralympic Games opening ceremony in Paris. More recently, a track called "Attraction" featuring Juliette Armanet has appeared on his channel.
