Winning Eurovision in 1995 with 'Nocturne', a track so sparse it was almost entirely instrumental, put Secret Garden on the map instantly. The Irish Norwegian duo of violinist Fionnuala Sherry and composer pianist Rolf Løvland built something rare from that moment: a genuine long term career in new age music, selling millions of albums across dozens of countries. Their debut, Songs from a Secret Garden, went platinum in Norway and Korea, sat on the Billboard new age charts for two years, and even caught the attention of Barbra Streisand, who adapted 'Heartstrings' for her own album and played it at her wedding. Their best known composition, 'You Raise Me Up', has been recorded by well over a hundred artists, from Josh Groban to Westlife to Il Divo. Their piece 'Adagio' turned up in Wong Kar wai's film 2046. By 2019 they had reached their tenth studio album, Storyteller, and recent performance videos show the duo still very much active.
