About
Sekret were a Leningrad rock and roll band who built a whole identity around 1950s and 1960s western music, with the Beatles as the big touchstone. They even took their name from the Beatles song "Do You Want to Know a Secret?". Formed in 1982, the four piece of Maxim Leonidov, Nikolai Fomenko, Andrey Zabludovskiy and Aleksey Murashov all sang, which gave the group a tight, harmony driven sound to go with the retro look. Their 1980s hits are still played on Russian FM radio today. The original lineup held together until 1990, when frontman Leonidov emigrated to Israel. The band carried on with changing lineups and never quite repeated that early success, but they kept making music until 2014, wrapping up a run of nine albums, a single and an EP with Все это и есть любовь. Various members have come back together at different points over the years.
