Simian Mobile Disco (GB)

About

Also known as: Siman Mobile Disco, Similian Mobile Disco

Simian Mobile Disco started as a side project for two members of the band Simian, with a name borrowed from Silver Apples founder Simeon Coxe III. James Ford and Jas Shaw built a reputation on analogue production, first through DJ sets and remixes for the likes of Muse, Klaxons, Air and the Go! Team, then through their own tracks. "Hustler", with vocals from New York singer Char Johnson, became an underground hit in 2006. Their debut album Attack Decay Sustain Release arrived in 2007, and Temporary Pleasure followed in 2009 with guests like Beth Ditto, Gruff Rhys and Alexis Taylor. After that they swung toward the club with the Delicatessen night and Delicacies label, where tracks were named after exotic foods. Whorl was recorded live in Pioneertown with just one synth and one sequencer each, while Welcome to Sideways went back to club focused ground. Ford has also produced albums for Florence and the Machine, Mumford & Sons and Foals.
