About
Simon Kempston has played in 38 countries across five continents, which already tells you something about the reach of a guy who works almost entirely in the acoustic singer songwriter space. Based in Edinburgh, the Dundee born musician has put out nineteen albums and an EP, covering everything from introspective folk leaning song collections to purely instrumental acoustic guitar records and a pair of alt blues albums released under the alias Man Gone Missing. Eleven of those records were engineered and co produced by Ian McCalman of The McCalmans, giving a good chunk of his catalogue a deep connection to the Scottish folk tradition. The Herald called him one of Scotland's very best singer songwriters, and his live CV backs that up: Celtic Connections, Ronnie Scott's Jazz Club, the Edinburgh Festival Fringe, and in 2023 a debut South American tour that saw him play over a hundred concerts in a single year.
