About
SiR has been quietly building one of the most interesting catalogs in alternative R&B since his 2015 debut Seven Sundays, which found its audience on SoundCloud and caught the ear of Top Dawg Entertainment. That connection led to a deal with TDE, and the Inglewood singer has been on the roster ever since, releasing November in 2018 and Chasing Summer in 2019, the latter featuring Kendrick Lamar, Lil Wayne, and Jill Scott. His sound sits in a warm pocket between neo soul and contemporary R&B, drawing on years spent co writing for artists like Ginuwine, Jill Scott, and Stevie Wonder before he stepped into the spotlight himself. His fourth album Heavy arrived in March 2024 after a period he has been open about, including substance abuse and rehabilitation during and after the pandemic. The record was preceded by a string of singles and followed by a late night TV appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live. SiR's Tiny Desk Concert in early 2020, which he delivered just days after losing his infant godson, remains one of the more quietly devastating performances in that series.
