Named after a track on David Bowie's Diamond Dogs, Skeletal Family came out of Keighley, West Yorkshire in late 1982 and quickly became one of the more distinctive acts in the British gothic rock and post punk scene. Their debut album Burning Oil, knocked together in just four days for £640, hit the top of the UK Independent Chart in 1984 and stayed in the top 10 for months. They toured with the Sisters of Mercy and put out a string of strong indie chart singles, with 'So Sure' and 'Promised Land' both reaching number two. The band has gone through several breakups and reformations over the decades, with vocalist Anne Marie Hurst a recurring presence across many of those chapters. The current lineup features Anneka Latta on vocals, and together they recorded Light From The Dark, released in April 2023. Recent uploads including 'Beautiful Disaster' and 'Cry Baby' show the band still very much active and putting new music out into the world.
