slowthai built his reputation on gritty, politically charged rap that pulls no punches. Born Tyron Kaymone Frampton and raised in Northampton, he broke out with the 2016 single "Jiggle" before signing to Method Records and dropping his debut album Nothing Great About Britain, which hit the top ten and landed a Mercury Prize nomination. At the ceremony, he made headlines by waving a fake severed head of Boris Johnson on stage, which pretty much sums up his approach: confrontational, provocative, and never boring. His second album Tyron arrived in 2021 with a stacked roster of features including A$AP Rocky, Skepta, Dominic Fike, and James Blake. It showed a more vulnerable side alongside the bravado. Then came Ugly in 2023, whose title doubles as a mantra: U Gotta Love Yourself. He also popped up on Gorillaz's "Momentary Bliss" and added uncredited vocals to Tyler, the Creator's Igor, proving he can slot into wildly different sonic worlds without losing his own voice.
