Smolasty (PL)

About

Warsaw rapper and producer Smolasty has built a reputation for blending R&B warmth with Polish hip hop, pulling influence from funk and the soul sounds of the 60s and 70s as much as from Chris Brown and Omarion. His 2018 album Fake Love landed at number 7 on Poland's best selling albums chart and earned him a gold record, no small feat for a domestic rap release. The music video for 'Dla nas', a track he produced for the collective Popkiller Młode Wilki 5, racked up over 18 million YouTube views. He's a sought after collaborator, having worked with a wide range of Polish acts including Białas, Otsochodzi, Ewa Farna and Malik Montana. His studio output spans three albums, Fake Love, Pełnia and Ghetto Playboy, and more recently he teamed up with pop star Doda for the track 'Nim Zajdzie Słońce', showing he's just as comfortable crossing into mainstream pop territory.
