About
Something With Numbers came out of the Central Coast punk scene in New South Wales and built their name on a blend of punk rock and soul rock that felt both scrappy and hooky. The band name itself was a joke, riffing on the naming conventions of acts like Blink 182 and Sum 41, and it stuck. Their commercial peak came with the 2006 album Perfect Distraction, which produced the single 'Apple of the Eye (Lay Me Down)', charting at number 34 on the ARIA Singles Chart and landing in the Triple J Hottest 100 that same year. They shared stages with Good Charlotte, Millencolin and Panic! at the Disco, and Channel V called their Sydney Big Day Out set home to the 'best mosh of the day'. Their third album Engineering the Soul was recorded in Brooklyn and debuted at number 20 on the ARIA Albums Chart in 2008. The band released a fourth album in 2013 before calling it quits.
