About
Formed in New Zealand and now based in Nashville, South For Winter makes music that refuses to sit still in any one genre. The trio moves fluidly between dreamy acoustic folk, delicate three part harmonies, stomping americana, and dark bluesy murder ballads. Nick Stone, Dani Cichon and Alex Stradal are all multi instrumentalists, drawing on acoustic guitar, cello, mandolin, resonator guitar and percussion to build a sound that can feel intimate and fragile one moment and surprisingly forceful the next. Their album Of Sea and Sky, funded through a successful crowdfunding campaign, brought them to sold out shows across North America, New Zealand and Europe. They have also appeared at SXSW and Folk Alliance International, steadily growing an audience that seems to follow them wherever they go.
