Spanjers & Van Dijsseldonk

About

Roel Spanjers is a keyboard player who treats the history of blues piano like a story worth telling out loud. In his solo shows he plays, talks and sings his way through the genre, giving the big stylists their due and wandering off into R&B, gospel, rock 'n roll and some of his own songs along the way. It's an intimate, soulful sit down concert, packed with knowledge and a good dose of humour. He has spent years as a keyboardist and Hammond side man for the likes of Luther Allison, Smokey Wilson, JW Roy, Normaal, Terry Evans, Curtis Salgado, Stef Kamil Carlens, Dayna Kurtz, Frédérique Spigt and Roscoe Chenier. Alongside that he works as a solo artist under the name Birdcatcher, playing blues and roots stages in the Netherlands and abroad.
