About
Also known as: R. Green, Robert Green, Robert L. Green, Robert Lee Green, Jr., Spice One, Spice1
Spice 1 built his name on hard Bay Area gangsta rap, and even the stage name tells you where he's coming from: it stands for Sex, Pistols, Indo, Cash and Entertainment. He started releasing albums in 1991 and quickly became one of the pioneers of the San Francisco Bay Area hip hop scene. His run on Jive Records stretched to six albums plus a greatest hits collection, and three of them, Spice 1, 187 He Wrote and AmeriKKKa's Nightmare, went gold. He has stayed busy ever since. Alongside a long list of solo records, he has teamed up with other West Coast names, including MC Eiht on The Pioneers and Keep It Gangsta, Jayo Felony on Criminal Intent, and C Bo and Yukmouth as Thug Lordz. More recent solo work includes Platinum O.G. in 2019 and its sequel in 2024, and his YouTube channel has video drops like The Murda Show with MC Eiht.
