About
Also known as: Steven Hiroyuki Aoki, スティーヴン・ヒロユキ・アオキ
Steve Aoki has built one of the loudest careers in electronic dance music, pulling in the title of highest grossing EDM artist in North America by Pollstar back in 2012. Known as much for his stage antics as his music, throwing cake at fans, crowd surfing, and riding inflatables around the dancefloor are basically part of the setlist. He averages around 250 shows a year, which is a relentless pace that helped him rack up a fanbase across continents. His debut album Wonderland scored a Grammy nomination for Best Dance/Electronica Album in 2013, and he has since put out seven studio albums. His collaborator list reads like a cross genre free for all, spanning Linkin Park, BTS, Blink 182, Backstreet Boys, Fall Out Boy and Afrojack, among many others. Beyond performing, he runs Dim Mak Records, the label he founded in 1996 that has helped launch acts across electronic and indie rock. He also published a memoir, Blue: The Color of Noise, in 2019.
