About
Stiff Blusion has been a cornerstone of the Limburgian fusion jazz scene for several decades, built around guitarist and composer Anton Theunissen and Heerlen bassist Simon Roelofs. The two form a constant core, while the musicians around them have changed over the years, with many alumni going on to conservatories, respected orchestras and major stages at home and abroad. The band toured Germany in the nineties and released a studio album in 1992, later followed by a live recording. Theunissen's compositions balance virtuosity with melody, keeping the music adventurous without ever turning cold or inaccessible. The revolving cast of collaborators has included notable names such as Glenn Corneille, Mike Roelofs, Michel Bisceglia and Geert Keysers. Fusion jazz is the genre, but the feel is very much alive and in the moment, driven by what happens between the musicians on stage.
