Few a cappella groups can claim their comeback started with a YouTube video going viral nine years after it was filmed. Straight No Chaser, the ten piece group that formed at Indiana University in Bloomington in 1996, had already broken up when a 1998 recording of their hilariously chaotic take on 'The 12 Days of Christmas' racked up millions of views in 2007. Atlantic Records CEO Craig Kallman saw it, picked up the phone, and a five album deal followed. Their debut Christmas record, Holiday Spirits, shot to number one on both iTunes and Amazon. Since then SNC have built a serious catalogue: Christmas records, the non holiday album With a Twist, and the 2013 release Under the Influence, which pulled in guest spots from Phil Collins, Elton John, Dolly Parton, Stevie Wonder, Sara Bareilles and others. They also recorded 'Text Me Merry Christmas' with Kristen Bell, keeping their knack for playful, pop literate vocal arrangements firmly intact.
