About
Pascal Gabriel has spent decades quietly shaping some of the most recognisable pop records around, co writing Dido's 'Here with Me', Ladyhawke's 'My Delirium', and tracks for Kylie Minogue, Will Young, Marina and the Diamonds, and many others. Back in the late eighties he was already at the cutting edge, producing S'Express's number one 'Theme from S'Express' and Bomb the Bass's 'Beat Dis', two of the defining sample heavy dancefloor tracks of that era. Under the name Stubbleman, Gabriel has carved out a very different space for himself. The debut album Mountains and Plains, released on Belgian cult label Crammed Discs in 2019, grew out of a road trip across the United States and blends field recordings and found sounds with modular synthesizers and live piano for something genuinely cinematic. His live shows have featured self built automatons: glockenspiels, vibraphones and xylophones. In 2020 he released The Blackbird Tapes EP, inspired by birdsong recorded during the London lockdown, and the track Skyline Drive followed in 2021.
