About
Sungazer is a two piece built around bassist and YouTuber Adam Neely and drummer Shawn Crowder, and they call what they do future jazz. They started out in Brooklyn in the summer of 2014, mixing hard hitting jazz fusion with 8 bit sounds, progressive rock and electronic dance music. The idea running through it all is keeping the human side of improvisation alive inside modern electronic production, and they've played for audiences in both the U.S. and Europe. Their second EP, Sungazer, Vol. 2, arrived in 2019. The debut full length, Perihelion, followed in October 2021, a record about time and the blurry space between jazz improvisation and electronic aesthetics. Simon Grove co produced and mixed it, and the guest list is long and varied: Plini, Mark Lettieri, Tom Monda of Thank You Scientist, Joshua de la Victoria, Brian Krock and the Resonance Collective all show up.
