About
Also known as: Sunn 0))), Sunn O), Sunn0))), sunn o))))
Sunn O))) make music that is less about songs and more about physical experience. The Seattle drone metal duo, Stephen O'Malley and Greg Anderson, built their sound around impossibly slow tempos, guitars tuned down to drop A, walls of distorted feedback, and a near total absence of melody or rhythm. Live shows are famously extreme: robes, fog machines, and volumes loud enough to rattle your chest. Hungarian vocalist Attila Csihar of Mayhem has been part of their live setup since 2003, adding an occult theatre quality to the whole thing. Over a career spanning more than two decades, they have pushed into collaborations with Ulver, Scott Walker, and Boris, and worked with producer Steve Albini on Life Metal and Pyroclasts. In late 2025 they signed with Sub Pop Records, and recent audio releases including Glory Black, Butch's Guns, and Does Anyone Hear Like Venom? point toward a self titled album due in 2026.
