About
Supratik Sengupta is a sitar player from Kolkata, the city famously known as the City of Joy and long regarded as a heartland of poets, artists and musicians. That cultural richness runs through his playing, which moves between quiet introspection and moments of intense musical exchange, weaving subtle melodic lines into an ever deepening conversation with rhythm. His work sits firmly in the tradition of Indian classical music, exploring the interplay of raga and tala with a focus on spiritual depth and melodic refinement. On stage he frequently collaborates with tabla players, building improvised dialogues where melody and rhythm unfold together in real time.
