About
Also known as: Tedeschi, Susan
Susan Tedeschi made blues sales numbers look easy when her 1998 album Just Won't Burn went Gold, which almost never happens for a blues record. Her voice gets compared to a mix of Bonnie Raitt and Janis Joplin, and her guitar playing leans on Buddy Guy, Stevie Ray Vaughan and Freddie King. After years of touring she ended up opening for a serious list of names: B.B. King, Bob Dylan, The Allman Brothers Band, John Mellencamp and, in 2003, The Rolling Stones. She toured with the Other Ones, a band of former Grateful Dead members, and ran Soul Stew Revival with her husband, slide guitarist Derek Trucks. In 2010 they merged their solo bands into the Tedeschi Trucks Band, a group built around original songs. The band's Layla Revisited (Live at LOCKN') performs the Derek and The Dominos album in full, with Trey Anastasio joining in.
