Ferry Corsten launched System F in early 1999 as a trance project, and it immediately made waves. The debut track "Out of the Blue" became a worldwide hit, cracking the top 20 of the UK Singles Chart, and the follow up single "Cry" pulled off the same feat. That kind of back to back UK chart success was no small thing for an electronic act at the time. Corsten kept the System F alias active into the early 2000s, with "Exhale" in 2002 serving as the final System F single, a collaboration with Armin van Buuren. Rooted firmly in trance, System F represents one of the cleaner, more direct expressions of Corsten's production style, built around euphoric melodies and that classic late 90s dancefloor energy that still holds up.
