About
Tähe Lee Liiv is a pianist from Estonia who is counted among the country's leading young players. She first made a name for herself with the music of her countryman Arvo Pärt, and his work has stayed close to her repertoire ever since. She likes to build programmes that set Pärt against the old masters. Bach's Partita No. 6 in E minor, BWV 830, is one pairing she has chosen, and Grieg's Piano Sonata in E minor is another. The Grieg looks like an odd Norwegian guest at first, but it shares its key with the Bach and has a few baroque touches of its own. That kind of quiet link between pieces is typical of how she shapes a recital.
