About
Tale of Us pulled off something unusual for a club act: a largely beatless, piano driven debut album on Deutsche Grammophon, a classical label. Endless (2017) was reportedly the first album of original material that label had released from a club act. Before that, Carmine Conte and Matteo Milleri built their name in Berlin through releases on Visionquest, Life and Death, Minus and R&S Records, and a turn toward melodic, emotional techno that took off around their 2013 EP Another Earth. Mixmag named them DJs of the year in 2015. They founded Afterlife in 2016, first as a party series in Ibiza and a label, later growing into a festival brand. Along the way they mixed fabric 97, showed up in Grand Theft Auto Online, played Coachella in 2019 and 2023, and appeared at Tomorrowland every year from 2017. Since 2021 both have gone solo, Milleri as Anyma and Conte as MRAK, and Anyma became the first electronic act to headline the Sphere in Las Vegas.
