About
Also known as: Tamar, Tamar Braxton-Herbert
Tamar Braxton spent years in the background before her solo career finally caught fire. She started out as part of The Braxtons, the R&B group she formed with her sisters in the early 1990s, and even after going solo her debut album on DreamWorks went through so many label headaches it barely made it out. It was her second studio album, Love and War in 2013, that changed everything: it hit number two on the Billboard 200 and made her a serious name in soul and R&B on her own terms. Beyond the music, Braxton built a whole second career in television, co hosting the daytime talk show The Real and starring in the reality series Braxton Family Values for nearly a decade. She picked up Grammy nominations, a BET Award, three Soul Train Music Awards, and even won Celebrity Big Brother in 2019. Her albums Calling All Lovers and Bluebird of Happiness showed she was not done evolving, and recent activity suggests she is still in creative mode.
