About
Team Sleep is the project where Deftones frontman Chino Moreno gets to roam far outside the heavy rock lane he's known for, exploring dream pop, trip hop, shoegaze, post rock, and ambient textures all at once. The group grew out of casual home recordings Moreno and guitarist Todd Wilkinson made together, and that loose, exploratory spirit never really left the music. Their self titled debut finally landed in 2005 after years of delays, featuring guest vocalists Rob Crow and Mary Timony, and a contribution to The Matrix Reloaded soundtrack along the way. Drummer Zach Hill and singer Mike Patton were also in the orbit during those sessions, even if not everything made the final cut. The band came back to life in 2024 in a meaningful way, releasing a Deluxe Edition of that debut album packed with previously unreleased tracks, including the long shelved "Kool Aide" with Mike Patton and "Let's Go" featuring Mary Timony. It's the kind of release that rewards fans who have been waiting two decades for those demos to get a proper airing.
