About

Also known as: Terasbetoni

Finnish power metal band Teräsbetoni built a serious following at home with their debut album Metallitotuus, released in 2005, which went platinum in Finland and shifted nearly 33,000 copies. Their sound draws heavily from acts like Manowar, with a martial feel, lyrics celebrating a pagan warrior lifestyle and a tongue in cheek brotherhood of metal attitude that the band members themselves admit they don't take entirely seriously. Songs like "Taivas lyö tulta" and "Vaadimme metallia" became staples, and "Taivas lyö tulta" was even adopted as the goal song for the Finnish ice hockey national team. The band had a strong run through the late 2000s, with their third album Myrskyntuoja hitting number one in Finland and a memorable turn at the 2008 Eurovision Song Contest, where they represented Finland with "Missä miehet ratsastaa". They appeared internationally at Wacken Open Air 2005, one of their rare ventures outside Finland. After releasing their fourth studio album Maailma tarvitsee sankareita in 2010, the group announced a hiatus in 2011. They did reunite briefly in 2013 for a show marking their ten year anniversary, but confirmed they were continuing the break after that.
