About
Terzij de Horde take their name from a line in a poem by Dutch literary giant Hendrik Marsman, which tells you something about how seriously this Utrecht black metal band takes its influences. Where most acts in the genre lean on mythology or misanthropy, these five channel literary and philosophical sources rooted in dark vitalism, a celebration of life's intensity even in its bleakest expressions. Their sound has been compared to Khanate, Wolves in the Throne Room and Deathspell Omega, blending slow burning doom with cacophonic black metal and traces of their earlier hardcore roots. Since forming in 2010, they have built a reputation for explosive live performances alongside a steadily growing body of recorded work. Their 2015 debut full length Self dug into questions of identity and self confrontation across six heavy, contemplative tracks. A decade on, the 2022 album In One of These, I Am Your Enemy pushed the sound further, and 2025 brings Our Breath Is Not Ours Alone on Church Road Records, their most recent statement.
