Few bands can claim a sound described as Joy Division, the Ramones and Kraftwerk thrown together, but that's exactly the territory The Cassandra Complex have been staking out since forming in Leeds in 1980. Founded by Rodney Orpheus, Paul Dillon and Andy Booth, the group built their identity across the EBM, industrial and goth scenes, releasing a string of albums on the Belgian Play It Again Sam label through the late 1980s and early 1990s. Satan, Bugs Bunny, and Me and The War Against Sleep remain fan favourites from that era. After going quiet for much of the 1990s, they returned with Wetware in 2000 and spent years remastering their back catalogue. The real comeback came with The Plague in 2022, their first studio album in 22 years, which hit number one in the German Alternative Charts. They followed it up with Death & Sex in 2024, recorded with guitarist Chris Haskett and cellist Mera Roberts, and that one topped the same chart too.
