About

Also known as: Devil Dogs

New York garage punk at its scrappiest, the Devil Dogs tore through the early 1990s underground scene with a raw, high energy sound that owed as much to classic rock and roll as it did to punk. Formed in 1989 by Andy Gortler, Steve Baise and Paul Corio, the band hit the ground running on Crypt Records, one of the key labels for this kind of greasy, no frills rock. Drummer Mighty Joe Vincent came aboard in 1991, and the band kept a relentless pace, dropping records like Saturday Night Fever and 30 Sizzling Slabs before calling it quits in late 1994. Their live album carried the cheeky subtitle The Greatest Rock N Roll Album You'll Never Hear, which tells you plenty about their attitude. After the split, bassist Steve Baise linked up with members of Turbonegro in a mid 1990s outfit called The Vikings.
