About
Few punk bands of the early 2000s hit as hard as The Distillers, the Los Angeles outfit built around Australian vocalist and guitarist Brody Dalle. Signed to Epitaph for their self titled 2000 debut, they sharpened their sound across three albums, landing on Sire Records for 2003's Coral Fang, a major label move that brought them real mainstream visibility. Their tracks turned up everywhere from Gran Turismo 4 to Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 4, and Gilmore Girls even had Jess scoring last minute Distillers tickets as a romantic gesture. After splitting in 2006, Dalle and guitarist Tony Bevilacqua formed Spinnerette, but The Distillers came back together in 2018 with most of their classic lineup intact. They dropped the single 'Man vs. Magnet' and announced work on a fourth album with producer Nick Launay. A live album, Live in Lockdown, followed in 2021, capturing nine tracks from their 2020 livestream. The fourth studio record is still in the works, and the band's next move remains one of punk's more intriguing open questions.
