About
Also known as: The Freestylers
The Freestylers got their name from the very first sample they ever used, a track called "Don't Stop the Rock" by Freestyle. From there, London producers Matt Cantor and Aston Harvey built a career on breakbeat that crossed over well beyond the UK. Their 1996 debut single "Drop the Boom" was a dancefloor hit in Britain and Miami, and "B Boy Stance" followed in 1998 with rapper Tenor Fly. In the States, "Don't Stop" reached number 8 on the Billboard dance charts and their debut album We Rock Hard sold over 150,000 copies. They have kept moving with the times, from the big beat era into drum and bass, dubstep and beyond. "Push Up" cracked the UK top 30 and the top 3 in Australia, and the Flux Pavilion remix of "Cracks" pulled in 25 million YouTube views. Their catalogue also includes a BBC Radio 1 Essential Mix and a FabricLive mix. Lately they have teamed up with Dub Pistols and General Levy on "Like We".
