About
The Happy Fits built their fanbase the old fashioned internet way: their track "While You Fade Away" landed on Spotify's Fresh Finds playlist and shot from under 1,000 streams to over 39,000, eventually hitting the top five on the Viral USA chart. That kind of traction was enough to convince all three original members to drop out of college and go all in. What sets them apart is the instrumentation: frontman Calvin Langman plays cello alongside the guitars and drums, giving the New Jersey indie rock trio a sound that stands out from the usual guitar band setup. They followed their debut album Concentrate with What Could Be Better in 2020, which earned a spot on Fresh Air critic Ken Tucker's ten best albums of the year. The band kept releasing music through the pandemic via weekly YouTube livestreams. Their third album Under the Shade of Green arrived in 2022, and a fourth, Lovesick, in 2025. In early 2024, founding guitarist Ross Monteith departed, with Nico Rose and Raina Mullen stepping in as full members.
