About
Few Swedish metal bands have packed as much turbulence and reinvention into their career as The Haunted. Formed in Gothenburg in 1996 by veterans of At the Gates, they hit hard from the start: their 1998 self titled debut was named Album of the Year by Terrorizer Magazine, and their follow up, The Haunted Made Me Do It, topped the CMJ Loud Rock Radio Chart for four weeks and took home a Swedish Grammy for Best Hard Rock Album. Alternative Press later called them one of metal's 25 most important bands. Their sound sits in groove metal territory with a thrash backbone, and they've kept that edge across seven studio albums despite a revolving door of vocalists and a hiatus or two. Songs like D.O.A. crossed over into the Rock Band video game, and the band has shared stages with Slayer, Napalm Death, In Flames and many others. The current lineup features Marco Aro on vocals alongside founding members Patrik Jensen and Adrian Erlandsson.
