The Killkennys

The Killkennys are an Irish folk band that grew out of a group of school friends who started gigging around Ireland in 1998. They took their current name in 2008, a nod to their hometown of Kilkenny. The sound covers a lot of ground: pure, traditional folk for the purists, but also rowdy singalongs that get a whole room moving. Think heartfelt ballads on one side and the raw energy of a proper pub night on the other. The core of the band is Davey Cashin on vocals, mandolin, banjo, guitar and whistles, Tommy Mackey on bass, acoustic guitar and vocals, and Mick Martin on bodhrán, uilleann pipes, low whistles, guitar and vocals. Davey Long and Jason Turk joined the line up in 2024, adding extra weight to the live sound. The band has been at it for over twenty five years, and they have toured the Netherlands extensively.
