Jadakiss, Styles P, and Sheek Louch have been holding down Yonkers since they linked up as The Lox in 1994. They broke through on Bad Boy Records before making one of hip hop's most talked about label switches, landing at Ruff Ryders in 1998 after publicly demanding their release from Puff Daddy's roster. Their debut Money, Power & Respect set the tone: dense, street level east coast rap with a gritty collective chemistry that never really let up. By 2001 they had launched their own imprint, D Block Records, giving the trio full control over their output. A third album, Filthy America... It's Beautiful, followed in 2016, proving they were far from done. All three members have also kept up solo careers running alongside the group, but The Lox as a unit carries a loyalty and a reputation that keeps pulling them back together.
