About
The Minds of 99 built their sound around a love of post punk and new wave from the 1980s, blending those textures with contemporary pop rock and singing almost entirely in Danish. That combination turned out to be a winning formula: the Copenhagen five piece went from winning DR's Karrierekanonen talent competition in 2013 to selling out Parken, Denmark's biggest stadium, less than a decade later. Their debut single drew on a poem about the explorer Knud Rasmussen and shot straight to the top of the alternative radio chart Det Elektriske Barometer, setting the tone for a career full of outsized ambitions. Four studio albums in, from the self titled debut through Liber and Solkongen to Infinity Action in 2022, they've kept a devoted fanbase growing with each release. Awards have stacked up too, including Song of the Year and Best Rock Songwriters at the 2015 Carl Prisen. Opening Roskilde Festival in 2015 feels like a long time ago now.
