The Paperboys are a Vancouver band that mixes Celtic folk with bluegrass, Mexican, Eastern European, African, zydeco, soul and country sounds, and somehow makes it all sit together. Tom Landa started the group in 1991 and is the only founding member left, though banjoist and bassist Cam Salay still drops in as a guest. Along the way the lineup has changed a lot, and in the early days a split over creative differences led the other members to regroup as The Clumsy Lovers. They released their first album, Late As Usual, on their own label, Stompy Discs, and their first three albums all earned Juno nominations. Molinos took the win for Roots and Traditional Album of the Year in 1997. They also picked up West Coast Music Awards, and they are known for their take on Bob Dylan's All Along the Watchtower. Reviewers keep pointing out their knack for pop songs with proper melodic hooks. Their seventh album, At Peace With One's Ghosts, came out in 2014.
