About
Paris Match is a Japanese group that mixes bossa nova, jazz, acid jazz, soul, blue eyed soul, AOR and house into one smooth, stylish sound. The name is a nod to The Style Council, whose album Cafe Bleu includes a song called The Paris Match, so the influences are pretty clear from the start. The group came together in 1998 around composer and arranger Yosuke Sugiyama, lyricist Tai Furusawa and vocalist Mari Mizuno. They debuted in 2000 with Volume One and have kept a remarkably steady release rhythm since, with albums like Type III, Quattro, After Six, Flight 7 and Passion8 running through the 2000s and on to the 2010s. Their back catalogue also includes the singles Happy go round, Desert Moon and Summer Breeze. Their most recent album, Le 13e, arrived in 2025, making it thirteen studio records and counting.
