About

The Sheer are a Dutch pop and melodic rock band from Haarlem whose knack for British influenced songwriting earned them real chart traction in the Netherlands. Their single "Right Now" cracked the top 40, and the debut album "The Keyword Is Excitement!" launched them onto stages like Pinkpop and Noorderslag. A feature on the Counting Crows track "Holiday in Spain" alongside Bløf gave them an international brush, and their single "Understand" landed the title slot on the FIFA 07 soundtrack. In 2004 they picked up the Zilveren Harp, the Dutch prize for promising pop acts. Front man Bart van Liemt draws heavily from 1960s British pop and the Britpop wave of the early 1990s, and that influence runs through all three of the band's studio albums. Their second record "Feel the Need" produced "The Girl That Lost Her Mind", which hit number three in the Mega Top 50. The third album "Here and Now and Long Before" arrived in 2009, after which guitarist Jan Peter Hoekstra joined from Krezip to round out the lineup to five members.
